Year’s End 2015

.               So, NaNoMemphis Wrimos, it’s December. NaNoWriMo 2015 is over. This is going to be a really long post, and it’s entirely from HGL’s heart.

.               ML_HGL here. I had planned a whole lot of extremely cool things to show up on this blog this year, and I hate  to say that not a whole lot of it got done. I do know why though. I’m not generally one to make excuses, but honestly I had bitten off more than I could chew. Full time job, 27 events in 30 days, plus actually doing NaNoWriMo, plus a blog post every other or every third day? There was no way this was going to get done. Especially with the sudden cutting of one person from my shift at work. Add in the fact that I did indeed get sick earlier in the month than usual and my ability to be wonder woman crashed and burned spectacularly. Like last year, I only missed two events in person that were official – though I just couldn’t get myself going for much on a couple of days, and I missed more than a few of the unofficial ones at the Germantown Library.

.               ML_kitkatt and I have enjoyed this year. We’ve enjoyed having a lot of newcomers to NaNoWriMo, and we’re quite glad to say that we’re hitting an even flow on what we’d like to do. I know there are those of you who have suggestions for us, PLEASE email them to us. If it’s about a location, please give us a website link or a google maps thing, because we check these places out in person. Not only that, but these places /do/ have to meet certain requirements, and just because we’ve said no to an official event there or in that time window there doesn’t mean that you are barred from hosting one yourself. I’m hoping to make a NaNoMemphis specific table tent for us, so I should be able to make that available for download sometime in the new year. (Also, if you guys really want a special forum all to ourselves, I *can* make that happen, but someone needs to tell me to get off my rump and do it.)

.               Don’t be surprised when I send out emails from the main NaNoWriMo site during the two Camp NaNoWriMo events. I personally plan on doing both Camps, with at least the usual NaNoWriMo word count as my goal. Will I make it? I have no idea, but I’m planning on aiming for serious overachiever status during NaNoWriMo 2016, and that means I must train. I’m going to be writing year round again, and you can track my progress on twitter (@authorAMDevine – which is actually the *nice* twitter, I’m far ruder on my other, which is @huskerslaura) and on my website (ascribedworld).

.               Feel free to email myself directly, at (hglnanodragon@gmail) or email the MLs at (nanomemphis@gmail). If you’re having a moment where you want to hang out to write, if you catch me at least a day in advance, I’m more than likely good to meet up somewhere. As usual, the official NaNoWriMo forums are going to get a little quieter during the off season, but they are still there. We also have our facebook group, and we are around year-round. We don’t just up and vanish.

.               I myself don’t have a “nano problem” – I have a “nano lifestyle” as was first said by one of the nanowrimo legends (sushimustwrite – each individual word links to a different part of sushiland, go check her out, she’s awesome – also, she’s the founding member of the wikiwrimo). If you want to talk about anything to do with writing, or even want to discuss the aspects of indie self-publishing (I’ve got one self-published book out, and planning more in 2016), please come talk to me. I love talking about these things. No seriously, I’m one hell of an introvert unless it’s about writing or publishing or things related to those things. Get me onto the subject of writing in any of its many forms and you may need duct tape to shut me up. And, don’t feel like I’m intimidating. I probably am, but I’m just as intimidated by the prospect of new people (did you miss the part about me being introverted?) – but writing makes me courageous. And I can show you how to be courageous due to writing.

.               If you’ve stuck around this far, (I can probably name you), hang on, Memphis is going to have an absolutely awesome 2016. (If I can’t name you, awesome! Keep coming back, I’m going to try to do this sort of massive post at least once a month.)
