“Reverse” NaNoWriMo?

Hi WriMos, MLHGL here, just wanting to talk to everyone about what some of you may have heard me talking about in person.

I’m talking about this “Reverse NaNoWriMo” thing that I’ve somewhat nuttily decided to do this year. I’m enjoying the notion of possibly being able to finish seriously early, but I do admit that sometimes I get pretty badly behind.

I’m trying the Reverse NaNoWriMo thing to see if I can manage to head off a 20k word deficit at the end of the month. (That was last year’s level of behind, but I also did catch one heck of a nasty stomach virus thanksgiving week, so I wasn’t that surprised.)

Reverse NaNoWriMo was initially calculated out by someone who knew that they wouldn’t have a whole lot of time left to write near the end of the month, and they wanted to get as much of a head start as possible. Here are the daily word counts required for Reverse NaNoWriMo:

Week One
Day 1: 3346
Day 2: 3216
Day 3: 3101
Day 4: 2986

Day 7: 2642

Day 10: 2298
Day 11: 2183

Day 14: 1838

Week Three
Day 15: 1724
Day 16: 1609
Day 17: 1494
Day 18: 1379
Day 19: 1264
Day 20: 1150
Day 21: 1035

Week Four

Day 23: 805
Day 24: 690

  1. I’ve seen this on the forums before, but haven’t considered trying it since I usually do pretty well on the straight 2000-a-day technique. Let us know how it works for you. 🙂
