WHAT IS NANOWRIMO?
NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month, which is an event that takes place each year during the month of November. It was started in the ’90s by a group of friends as a challenge that grew each and every year. Now, NaNoWriMo includes participants around the world, and in nearly every country on the planet.
In total, some 325,142 of writers around the world wrote more than 3,399,480,505 words in 2014.
Planner is a term for those writers who write from an outline, or have a completely solid idea of what they’re writing well before they start.
A Pantser is a person whom only has the vaguest ideas as to what they’re writing. Both MLHGL and MLkitkatt are pantsers.
A purple bar is the color of the wordcount bar once you’ve validated a wordcount over 50,000 words. The word count bar is blue until you cross 50k, green after 50k until you validate.
Happens between the 25th of November and the 30th of November. You must validate between those two dates in order to trigger a “win” if you’ve crossed the 50k mark.
